Yuga Labs, the company behind the popular bored Ape Yacht Club NFT series, has confirmed that discord server was hacked and NFTs worth over 200 ETH were stolen.
On 4 June 2022 the community manger Boris Vagner’s discord account was hacked and the hackers posted phishing links in the official BAYC using Vagner’s account. The hacker tricked the NFT owners into parting with their private keys, after the login information was obtained, the hackers to call the Ethereum and NFTs in the account connected wallet. The access to the discord server was resumed eventually but the hackers did meaningful harm. BAYC’s official twitter account says that about 200 ETH worth of NFTs have been affected.
Our Discord servers were briefly exploited today. The team caught and addressed it quickly. About 200 ETH worth of NFTs appear to have been impacted. We are still investigating, but if you were impacted, email us at discord@yugalabs.io.

Identical hacking attempt was previously being observed on 1st April BAYC Instagram account and NFTs worth 3 million dollars were stolen. On 25 Apr 2022 again discord & Instagram accounts were hacked were fake links were posted to surprise crypto minting event. This arise a question on security of discord, that it does not provide minimum required security and people have lost millions of dollars and NFT related thefts are increasing day by day.
