Non-fungible token (NFT) influencer Zeneca was the latest person who was a victim of a phishing scheme that targeted the NFT ecosystem.
Twitter and Discord took over accounts related to a fake “Zen Academy Founders Pass” airdrop, tricking people into linking their wallets with the influencer. It’s still not clear how much damage the attack will do.

The founder of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, Yuga Labs, tweeted on Monday about a “widespread threat” to the NFT community.
” Our security team has been tracking a persistent threat group that targets the NFT community. We believe that they may soon be launching a coordinated attack targeting multiple communities via compromised social media accounts. Please be vigilant and stay safe.— Yuga Labs (@yugalabs) July 18, 2022.″
As soon as the tweet went out, Zeneca’s account was reported as being hacked. Justin Tayler, who is in charge of marketing for consumer products at Twitter, took action 40 minutes after the hacking happened. Neither Twitter nor CoinDesk could say anything about how bad the hack was.
Hacking and scams on Discord are becoming more common in the NFT community, so this hack is not new. The most recent major breach happened in early June when a Bored Ape Yacht Club Discord moderator’s account was taken over in a similar way.
