The popular NFT artist Mike Winkelmann Beeple is once again duped by a hack attempt as the artist yesterday tweeted about his discord URLs being compromised leading users to a fraudulent discord that could drain their wallets.
“DO NOT go into that discord and do not verify, it will drain your wallet!!’ Beeple tweeted, alerting his 706k Twitter followers.
The artist shows anger at Discord’s lack of security measures saying “once again massive thanks again to discord for being garbage.”
The Beeple: Everydays – 2020 NFT Collection on OpenSea marketplace may have had its Discord connection “hijacked”, Twitter user maxnaut.eth noted in a post hours before Beeple became aware of the URL hack.
Maxnaut.eth posted a screenshot of a Collab.Land bot on Discord that urges users to verify account ownership but drains their wallets instead, leading him to deduce that the URL points to a CollabLand wallet drainer.
This isn’t the first time Beeple has been a victim of hack attempts as he is one of the most successful NFT artists of this generation with the second most expensive NFT ever sold being his “The First 5000 Days” collection.
Last November, Beeple’s official discord server got hacked just before his second auction on Nifty as a result of which a fake NFT drop occurred.
