Adidas Originals and FEWOCiOUS Collaborate on NFT Sneakers

Adidas Originals and acclaimed non-fungible token (NFT) artist FEWOCiOUS have announced a collaboration to create a new line of NFT sneakers. The collection, which will be available for purchase on the OpenSea platform, will feature a physical sneaker and a corresponding NFT.

The physical sneaker is a custom-designed Adidas Campus 00’s sneaker that has been decorated with FEWOCiOUS’s signature artwork. The NFT, which is called a “Digital Twin,” is a digital replica of the physical sneaker that can be used in the metaverse.

The collection will be available for minting on June 22. There will be a total of 4,500 Trefoil Flower Mint Passes available, and each pass will allow the holder to mint one pair of NFT sneakers. The minting process will be broken down into three tiers:

  • Tier One: Holders of specific NFTs, including at least one ALTS by Adidas NFT with DECOS ALT[er] Ego, ALTS by Adidas NFT with SOLES ALT[er] Ego, or a FEWOCiOUS x FewoWorld: Paint Drops NFT, will have early access to minting and will receive a discounted price of 0.2 ETH.
  • Tier Two: Holders of at least one ALTS by Adidas NFT ALT[er] Egos or any FEWOCiOUS NFT will be able to mint during the regular pre-sale period for 0.25 ETH.
  • Tier Three: Holders of any NFT from a selection of collections, including Gmoney’s Admit One, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and CryptoPunks, will be able to mint during the public sale period for 0.25 ETH.

The physical sneakers will be shipped to buyers in September.

This collaboration is the latest in a series of moves by Adidas to embrace the metaverse. In April, the company launched the ALTS by Adidas collection, a line of NFTs that granted holders access to exclusive experiences in the metaverse. Adidas has also partnered with Italian luxury fashion brand Prada to launch an NFT collection on the Polygon blockchain.

Adidas’s embrace of the metaverse is a sign of the growing importance of this new technology for the fashion industry. As more and more people spend time in the metaverse, brands are looking for ways to reach them there. NFTs offer a unique opportunity for brands to do this, as they can be used to create digital assets that can be used, traded, and displayed in the metaverse.
