Metaverse is evolving how people use the internet in general. With the metaverse and other Web 3.0 technologies, the internet has entered a whole new world. It has changed how we learn, how we earn our livings, and how we connect to one another. Famous companies as well as new ones are trying out latest things in the digital world.
The University of Tokyo has announced that they will soon launch Metaverse courses to teach engineering in a virtual space. The purpose is to provide a new style of learning to a wide range of students at the University of Tokyo, middle and high school students, working adults, and more.
The University of Tokyo Todai also commented that in this era of rapidly advancing digital world diverse work styles, there was a high demand from people of all kinds of backgrounds who wanted to learn the latest in engineering and information science.
Todai made the course to deal with the lack of trained workers required to handle digital transformation and to keep employees up to date on the latest technology. The school says that these programs are for both male and female students because “female students remain underrepresented in university engineering degrees.” Someone from the university was quoted as saying,
“Thanks to the metaverse, there could be a way for anyone, no matter their age, gender, socioeconomic status, or where they live, to learn about engineering and information science.”
The new program is composed of three initiatives: a comprehensive engineering career site, a junior engineering education course, and a reskilling engineering education course. There will be online classes on things like the next generation of communication technologies, how to be an entrepreneur, and artificial intelligence. Certificates will be awarded to students who completes these courses with good grades.
