Twitter Working On Blockchain – Linked Collectibles Tab
The most exciting news is finally here. The micro-blogging site Twitter is currently working on a tab that will show off a user's NFT collection. Cool, isn't it?
According to The Verge, twitter started working on this feature in September. A tweet by Mada Aflak, a software engineer of twitter, showed the first glimpse of the new collectible tab but no rollout date has been announced as yet.
This feature will allow the users to show off their NFT collection by connecting their crypto wallet from some popular providers such as Metamask, Coinbase, and Crypto.com. NFTs or Non Fungible Tokens are virtual tokens that are used to buy real life goods by using cryptocurrencies. In order to authenticate that the NFTs showcased are real, a small badge will be added to the user's Twitter profile after verification.
Later on, the reverse engineer, Jane Manchun Wong showed how the feature had changed since then. She dug slightly deeper into the development stages and showed some more things that are to be featured in this tab.
In addition to the Collectibles Tab, Wong also revealed that you will be able to tap on the NFT and get a detailed and magnified look of it along with details of the NFTs. It may include a description, information about its creator, any properties, as well as some information about the collection.
Furthermore, the developer, Nathan Lawrence says that Twitter should add more useful features dedicated to fighting misinformation. He also highlights the issue of misinformation prevention tool 'Birdwatch' being hidden somewhere on the site. Birdwatch is a misinformation prevention tool that allows people to identify information in tweets that they believe are misleading or not true.
According to Nathan Lawrence, this truly is not a good look for Twitter.
