The phenomenal sale involved a collection of 7,200 unique designs, all sold as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Crossland’s successful venture, an unexpected triumph by his own admission, is based on a series of anthropomorphized stags. These pieces were sold for Cardano, and the uniqueness of each design is ensured.
The intersection of art and technology attracted Crossland to the NFT space, where he saw the opportunity for digital collectability. The artist initiated his journey by sharing illustrations of anthropomorphic deer within online communities, which swiftly gained traction and blossomed into a triumphant endeavor.

After a two-day sale at the end of March, some individual pieces from Crossland’s series have been resold for as much as the Cardano equivalent of $8,030, demonstrating the intriguing dynamics of the digital art market.

Carol Breen, an artist and lecturer in graphic communication design at Cardiff Metropolitan University, commented on the divide within the art world concerning NFTs.
While some artists find it an excellent avenue to reach new audiences and maintain copyright control, others see NFTs as a ploy by big conglomerates to lure people into these new art markets, inaccessible to the majority of artists and the public.
