Las Vegas-based Station Casinos is revolutionizing the casino loyalty rewards landscape with the launch of STN Charms, a program that rewards customers with unique, blockchain-based digital art called NFTs. As an extension of the Boarding Pass casino loyalty program, STN Charms will be available across all Station Casinos properties, with all existing loyalty members automatically enrolled.

Tom Mikulich, Senior Vice President of Innovation at Station Casinos, expressed excitement about the innovative program, stating that STN Charms will create a more engaging way for guests to earn unique rewards and customize their play. The patent-pending technology behind STN Charms is expected to reshape the casino gaming landscape and modernize loyalty programs, enhancing the gaming experience for guests.
The idea for STN Charms was inspired by popular mobile games like Candy Crush Saga and gamblers who use good luck charms, according to Mikulich. The result is a collection of digital good luck charms that level up in luck when players win.
Earning charms and embracing the NFT trend
Guests can collect various Charms through multiple methods, with new Charms dropping each month. These Charms are categorized by type (e.g., lucky penny, shamrock, horseshoe, panda), rarity (common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary), and luck level, which is associated with the guest’s winnings, while the Charm is active on the slot machine.
Station Casinos is not the only Las Vegas company embracing the NFT trend. Circa in downtown Las Vegas launched a Vegas Vickie NFT in March 2022, claiming to be the first casino in Vegas on the blockchain. Meanwhile, Allied Esports Entertainment, owner of the HyperX Arena at Luxor, debuted a rewards program with NFT prizes in May.
Differentiating through immersive experiences
However, Station Casinos’ patent-pending NFT program aims to differentiate itself by offering a more immersive experience, described by Mikulich as “a game within a game.” He also believes that STN Charms will add more depth to the traditional player’s club, which typically consists of three to five levels.
Pat Gordon, Director of Innovation at Station Casinos, highlighted the program’s potential to reshape the casino gaming and loyalty program industry. Guests can personalize their gaming experience by collecting NFTs in their Charm Box and leveling up their Charms. Gordon explained that no additional enrollment is required, as guests can opt into Charms on their first card. All guests will automatically receive several free digital good luck Charms (NFTs).
Bringing it together
STN Charms was developed in partnership with Web3 service providers Mintable Pte. and Intergalactic Agency. Mintable’s platform allows rewards members to buy, sell, and display the NFTs, while Intergalactic designed the custom end-to-end system for the Charms, according to a Station Casinos news release. As the casino industry continues to evolve and adapt to new technologies.
