Spotify plans to integrate NFTs, other Web3 features
Spotify, which is a Swedish Media and music streaming service, is hiring a team of professionals to integrate Web3-like non-fungible tokens or NFTs on its platforms. At the end of 2021 Spotify contained 406 million users out of which 180million were premium subscribers.
Furthermore, they can be traded and sold on blockchain. These are associated with digital assets like audio, video and images. Spotify is not the first to integrate Web 3 like NFTs. Microblogging site twitter has successfully integrated web 3 NFTs for its images. Meta’s founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has hinted about doing the same with Instagram in the near future.
However, there is a difference. Twitter has done the integration for its images and the same may be true for Instagram, but since Spotify is a music site, it will integrate NFTs for its audio format. Justin Blau, Kings of Leon, Don Diablo, Jacques Greene, are among those singers who have minted their music in the form of NFTs before. It will be interesting to see the response of music lovers towards integration of web3 NFTs by Spotify.
