Paris Olympics 2024 Possibly Using NFT Tickets

The French government’s Olympics representative submitted a report to the Prime Minister recommending ways to implement a non-transferable and personalized Blockchain ticketing system as NFTs for the Paris 2024 Olympic.

The interministerial delegate of the French Olympics and and Paralympic Games, Michel Cadot believes Blockchain technology is more secure than traditional ticketing devices. The participants will get their digital ticket through SMS and QR codes just a few days before the start of the event. Besides, Cadot recommends the prime minister’s office to run blockchain ticketing for all main sports events in Paris.

This news is taken from his 30-page report that was presented to the Prime Minister’s Office last week recommending implementing a Blockchain ticketing system that will be non-transferable and customized for attendees. The personalized tickets may also allow ticket holders to receive interactive messages (via digital channels) on issues and updates about transportation, security and venues of the events .Those NFT tickets will be activated within a certain perimeter of the event venue. Ultimately this innovative system should reduce the risk of ticket fraud.

That recommendation comes on the heels of the ticket fraud that occurred during the UEFA Champions League in Paris.

“This coordination should be added to other important international sporting events that are important upstream of the Rugby World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games. It is possible to pre-programmed systems and fail in the working methods, like multi actor management reflections to deal with problems,” wrote Michel Cadot in the report.

If this turn out to be implemented, it will be a huge success for Blockchain technology. However, it would not be the first time crypto and the Olympics have been linked.Last summer, crypto was awarded to  gold medal winners of the Tokyo Olympics by Indian exchange, Bitbns. Each gold medal winner was rewarded with around US$ 2,700 in crypto while silver medal winners received US$ 1,350 and bronze medal winners got US$ 675 each.
