Kings Of Leon Will Be The First Band To Release An Album As An NFT
(November 10, 2021)
According to news sources, 'Kings of Leon' is said to release their new album entitled 'When You See Yourself' in the form of Non Fungible Tokens or NFTs and will probably be the first band to ever do so.
The band will drop three types of tokens as part of a series called 'NFT Yourself'. The first type is a special album package while the second type offers live show perks like front-row seats for life. Furthermore, the third type is just for exclusive audiovisual art. All these three types of tokens display art designed by the band’s longtime creative partner Night After Night.
Lately, crypto collectibles have exploded in popularity. The ownership of these assets is recorded on a blockchain that acts as a digital ledger similar to the networks that underpin bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. We know that NFTs are a type of cryptocurrency but instead of holding money, they hold assets like art, tickets, music, and more. They operate on blockchains, therefore, anyone can see the details of any NFT transaction.
It is also to be noted that the value of NFTs fluctuates just like stocks. These digital tokens have gone mainstream in the past year as many artists or musicians sought out additional revenue streams in the concertless era of the pandemic. The likes on Shawn Mendes, Grimes, Portugal, and Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda have gotten on board in the last few weeks.
Kings of Leon's album will be released on various platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, iTunes, but the NFT version will only be available on YellowHeart. The token's price will be around $50 that includes enhanced media more like a moving album cover as well as a digital download of the music, and limited-edition vinyl. The sale of this album will open on Friday at 12 p.m. E.T. and will continue for two weeks.
