NFTs go full throttle with Mattel’s Fast & Furious Hot Wheels Collection

Fast & Furious fans, start your engines! In a unique move combining the worlds of iconic cars, blockbuster films, and cutting-edge technology, Mattel is set to launch a Fast & Furious edition of its Hot Wheels NFT Garage Series. The collection, which drops on May 22, is timed to coincide with the release of the latest installment in the globally successful Fast & Furious film franchise.

The Fast & Furious collection

Residing on the Flow Blockchain, the Hot Wheels NFT Garage x Fast & Furious collection will feature digital versions of famous cars from the movie series. These include Dominic Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger, Brian O’Conner’s 1969 Camero, and Suki’s (played by Devon Aoki, sister of renowned DJ and NFT enthusiast Steve Aoki) Honda S2000 from 2 Fast 2 Furious. The limited edition NFT packs will retail for $20 each.

Mattel’s pioneering NFT moves

The Fast & Furious drop marks Mattel’s latest venture into the dynamic world of NFTs. Like the recent Boss Beauties x Barbie collection, this new series offers holders the chance to own a physical die-cast version of Suki’s car if they manage to collect the entire set, thereby blurring the boundaries between the tangible and digital spheres.

Earlier this month, Mattel partnered with OnChain Studios to release a collection of Star Wars-themed digital collectibles called Cryptoys, celebrating the unofficial Star Wars holiday on May 4th.

Flow blockchain and NFT collections

In addition to hosting Mattel’s Fast & Furious NFT collection, the Flow Blockchain is home to several other popular NFT collections. These include Dapper Labs’ UFC Strike NFT platform, NFL All Day, and NBA Top Shot.

As Mattel accelerates into the NFT space with its Fast & Furious Hot Wheels collection, it reinforces the growing trend of mainstream brands embracing digital collectibles. This innovative melding of film, toys, and blockchain technology represents an exciting evolution in both the NFT market and fan engagement strategies.
