Yahoo Launching Metaverse Related Projects In Hong Kong

American web services provider Yahoo has announced that it is launching a series of metaverse activities in Hong Kong. Yahoo plans to explore technologies in connecting with people regardless of time or location. The move comes even as more firms continue deploying their resources into the still-developing market.

The choice of Hong Kong for the trials isn’t strange. According to Roger Li, senior director of ad creative at Yahoo Creative Studios, over 80 percent of Hong Kong citizens already engage or are interested in an immersive experience.

Yahoo’s announcement stated that the company will host virtual concerts and exhibitions on the popular metaverse platform Decentraland. They plan to feature local idols and artists and release a limited amount of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Yahoo is also launching an NFT exhibition called “The Abyss of Kwun Tong” this week in collaboration with local creators. Regarding Lorraine Cheung, the chief of the audience at Yahoo Hong Kong, the corporation discerns the Metaverse as an impressive option for Hong Kong individuals seeking to be involved in social actions while pandemic limitations stay powerfully. On Thursday last week, a nationwide statute was inaugurated expecting that a negative Covid test is given to join all world platforms such as bars and restaurants.

The metaverse is a virtual world where people are expected to socialize, play, trade and work in the future.
